In Memoriam - Mike Wieringo

The world of comics lost one of the best it had this weekend, as artist and creator Mike Wieringo passed away on Sunday. He was just 44, in great shape, and gone much too soon.

His work on The Flash and Fantastic Four with Mark Waid will likely be what he is most remembered for, but he worked on so much more and brought so much to the world of comics in recent years. He also created Tellos with Todd Dezago, which was a particular favorite of mine when it was being published.

Mike never worked for Top Cow, but it's safe to say that we all wanted to be in business with him. I actually spoke with him a couple months ago about doing some work, but alas he was still exclusive at the time. We agreed we would stay in touch and see where things led. Alas, this is the closest we ever got.

Those that knew him have plenty of wonderful things to say about Mike, and I didn't know him well enough to justify me adding to that. I will say that he was a good guy and a fantastic artist, and I'll miss his work and his dedication to it.

Bye, 'Ringo. Rest in peace.
