On the comics side it's a Marvel episode as Ron is loving revisiting Avengers Forever while C.B. was surprised to have enjoyed Lockjaw and the Pet Avengers as much as he did, while Filip is loving the art on Avengers: Initative. And now with WonderCon and San Francisco on the horizon, Ron shares some of his favorite restaurant spots while Filip and C.B. are already plotting their meals.

What The Con: CBR's ECCC Coverage of Top Cow's "Herd It Through the Bo-Vine" Panel

Last year, Top Cow Productions had a limited presence at the Emerald City ComiCon: there was no official Top Cow panel, and publisher Filip Sablik only showed up to host an interview with acclaimed writer and BOOM! Studios Editor-in-Chief Mark Waid. In 2009, Sablik had hosted a panel that was fun and informative, but ultimately lacking in major announcements or convention-exclusive dish (though they have established an ECCC tradition of giving out issues with special convention-only variant covers year after year). Fortunately, Top Cow rolled out with a much larger presence at this year’s Eighth Annual Emerald City ComiCon. The company’s "Herd it Through the Bo-Vine 2010" panel was one of the con’s first, and Sablik and panelists Phil Hester, Michael Broussard, and William Harm made an effort to kick Saturday off in style.

In true Top Cow fashion, attendees to the 12:00 PM panel were rewarded with a free copy of "The Darkness" #83, featuring a variant cover by the artist Whilce Portacio.

What The Con: CBR Reports ECCC 2010 Is A Lotta Comics & A Little Rock & Roll

Spring is in the air. Birds are singing, flowers are blooming, and - best of all - comic book convention season is getting underway! For me and many others who live in the northwest, the Emerald City ComiCon is the event that signals the return of creator signings, fans dressed as superheroes, and con exclusives. Taking place this Saturday and Sunday in Seattle, the ECCC promises to deliver on those three counts and more.

To assist those who plan on attending the con, CBR News contacted ECCC's founder Jim Demonakos to get the skinny on what folks should prepare for. From the very beginning of our talk, one thing became clear quickly - attendees should brace themselves to rub elbows with lots and lots of fans. Last year, the con topped ten thousand in attendance. This year, Demonakos stated that they're anticipating fifteen thousand fans to come, with 40% of those travelling in from out of state.

Those who frequent conventions across the country often have to look at a con's offerings to decide if it's more of a comic book convention, a science fiction fest, or a pop culture carnival. As far as Demonakos is concerned, however, the ECCC is all about the comics.

The fact that fans go to this convention seeking comics is a given, but considering the number of travelers coming in from places outside Washington, one can also assume they're on the lookout for something special. Well, in that department, ECCC's founder guarantees that folks won't be disappointed.

"We worked with Top Cow to create some great merchandise for the show, including both the official con shirt and a Witchblade print as well. We'll have cool prints from Udon Studios and 'Stumptown' co-creator Matthew Southworth. There's also an Owly shirt by Andy Runton, numerous exclusives from BOOM! Friends of the Cow: LongBox & Comics Alliance Having a Contest to Win $25 Worth of Free Digital Comics

LongBox, a new digital comics platform that's aiming to become the iTunes of comics, is about to launch its new Beta version at Emerald City Comic Con in Seattle this weekend. But while most of the world will only be able to read through a few watermarked sample comics until the wider release, ComicsAlliance readers will have an opportunity to get a wide range of comics through LBX before the general public -- and get them for free.

While LBX is still in Beta, Comics Alliance is going to be giving away 15 gift codes worth $25.00 each to 15 ComicsAlliance readers, which can be used toward anything in the LongBox store. With most LongBox comics priced at just $0.99 (and digital graphic novel collections priced around $5 to $10), winners will essentially walk away with up to 25 comics or several trade paperbacks.

Graze Anatomy: Sketches from Your Publisher

I just received advanced copies of Witchblade #125 in the office today. And the issue looks frickin' awesome. I know I say that a lot about our books, but this "War of the Witchblades" storyline has me really excited. Marc's cover for the Emerald City Comic-Con for the issue inspired this sketch.
If that wasn't enough excitement for one day I received about 1/2 of the finished pages from Witchblade #126. Wow. Seriously, folks this story arc is going to rock your socks.
