Top Cow Review: Cyberforce/Hunter-Killer #1 (of 5)

Top Cow's big crossover Summer event begins this week with the release of Cyberforce/Hunter-Killer #1. While I was happy to give the issue an early read, I was a bit skeptical as to how much I would enjoy it. I had never read either of the titles in past and am not familiar with any of the characters involved in the crossover. My fears of being lost were quickly dashed as the issue begins by getting new readers up to speed as a member of the Hunter-Killer team is interrogated and forced to tell the story so far. This recap is well done and also aids in moving the story forward quickly for veterans of the two franchises. This is an ongoing strength of the book. Waid is able to introduce all of the major players and get them into place, while still advancing the plot. This keeps the story from falling victim to the "set up" feeling that is common in many events' first issues.
