NEW DARKNESS TRADE TO BE OFFERED FOR $4.99 IN COMIC SHOPS

In an effort to reach out to new and lapsed readers and retailers of The Darkness, Top Cow Productions, Inc. announced it will be offering the upcoming THE DARKNESS: ACCURSED Vol. 1 trade paperback for the discounted price of $4.99.
The Darkness: Accursed Vol. 1 will contain the initial storyline by current series writer Phil Hester (Green Arrow, Firebreather) and artist Michael Broussard (Unholy Union). The six-issue story, entitled “Empire,” kicks off the third and most current volume of The Darkness, which Hester took over writing in December 2007. It is an ideal jumping-on point for readers interested in discovering the modern Darkness series. The collection will also contain a cover gallery featuring pieces by Dale Keown and Stjepan Sejic.
“The Darkness: Accursed Vol. 1 represents not only a fresh start for new readers, but a dramatic turn of events for longtime fans of the book or the video game,” explained Phil Hester. “You don’t need to know every last detail of Jackie Estacado’s past. If you ever played the game or read the book and imagined yourself in Jackie’s shoes, as I have, this storyline is a logical extension of those thoughts. And if you’re simply looking for blood-spattered mayhem, sexy femme fatales, gritty crime, plus a dose of existential horror, we got that, too!”
Anyone who is apprehensive about picking up this book because they think have to read up on past Darkness issues, no need to worry. READ MORE.

Cin City 2000 reviews WITCHBLADE VOL. 5 TP

Light verses dark, angel verses devil, most worldly or outer worldly stories discuss the theme of good verses evil. The stories in Witchblade usually revolve around the balance between the two. So, is Volume 5 yet another themed tale about good verse evil? Well, not quite, according to Ron Marz “not all good guys wear white and have wings.” Besides a very interesting plot line, Volume 5 is filled with Top Cow’s A-list characters, demons, angels, sexy ass babes and a very important baby. It is a blockbuster of highly detailed battles, original twists, and to top it off: it has girls in medieval bikinis. READ MORE.

Glowing review of WITCHBLADE VOL. 5 TP

I can count the issues of Witchblade that I’ve actually read on one hand, but with the TV show from a few years ago, and the relatively new anime adaptation, plus the upcoming feature film, it’s not like I’ve been unaware of the series. I guess I had unfair expectations laid upon it, as it was one of those books that began in the mid 1990s, when the bad girl craze was sweeping the comic reading public into a hormonal frenzy. Characters like the star of this book were lumped together with Lady Death, Vampirella and many more whose sole function seemed to be to titillate prepubescent readers. READ MORE.

Madame Mirage Vol 1 TPB review

Writer-producer Paul Dini's femme fatale is getting her mini-series collected by Top Cow; it combines all the tech noir action of the six issue mini-series and it reads even better as a book than as indidivual issues. READ MORE.

Hunter-Killer TPB Review -

"as infectiously intelligent and entertaining as any of the best continuity-based television shows out there, and with the current WGA strike still going, "programs" such as Hunter-Killer may very well be the place to turn for fresh entertainment for those that cannot stand reality television"
