Twitter Report: Ron Marz Remembers Mike Wieringo

August 12 is a somber day in comics. Tom Brevoort pointed out today that it's not just because Mike Wieringo and Mark Gruenwald died on that particular date, but because two talents in the industry passed away in their 40s long before anyone would have expected them to. Both figures showed up in thoughts around the comics Twittersphere this morning as their accomplishments were remembered.

Twitter Report: Ron Marz Reacts to Thor Trailer

The new "Thor" trailer that premiered at Marvel's Comic-Con panel made it out onto the Internet this week, and whether it was leaked or "leaked," a whole mass of people who weren't able to see it at the show have now been exposed and have opinions.

Twitter Report: Ron Marz & Marc Bernardin Reflect on LOST Finale

Since the "Lost" series finale concluded Sunday night, Twitter friendships have been placed in jeopardy, "Battlestar Galactica" comparisons have been made, and occasionally satisfaction was experienced. While Brian Michael Bendis was unfollowing spoiler-posters, Ron Marz decided that he was OK with where the episode left everyone. Then there was Dennis Calero, who reached a common ground between the show's failures and successes.

All in all, it was night of fiery words and critical screams in the Twitter Report feed, but I've summed up the big picture in retweets below as best I could. You can read on through to find out where everyone stands, and if you make it to the end I can promise you a glimpse of the most disturbing horse costume you've ever laid eyes on.

Twitter Report: Marc Bernardin Reflects on Ronnie James Dio

Frank Frazetta's death hit Twitter pretty hard last week, but when news broke that former Black Sabbath frontman Ronnie James Dio passed away last night, writers and artists alike were hit with a second round of shock. In fact, the last 12 hours of tweets in the comics Twitterverse has been totally dominated by personal experiences, appreciation and occasional expressions of indifference from those who never really clicked with Dio's message of dragons, magic and metal.

Ron Marz, of course, is always more than skeptical about comic book piracy. Marz, Kurt Busiek and B. Clay Moore all weighed in on the topic in the last 24 hours. Their opinions come in the wake of an FBI raid on the comics-hosting site HTMLcomics.com.

Twitter Report: Ron Marz's Wish

Apple's iPad managed to rebound as a topic of conversation in the comics industry this week, thanks to the outing of Marvel's own custom comic-viewing app. Off course, any news that breaks today does so under the specter of April Fool's Day, which did not go unnoticed, and I whole-heartedly support the stated opinion of writer Mike Oliveri, which has been retweeted below.

In other news, Jon Favreau went on the record to promise he'll do a commentary track for "Iron Man 2," which should please a great many fans. His pledge is documented below along with Ron Marz's wish for Tiger Woods and Jesse James and Mike Choi's promise if the Marvel app turns out to be a joke.

Newsarama: Filip Sablik in "Information Overload?"

We live in an age where unparalleled information is at our fingertips. Not only things like the news or reference material, but information about our friends and even people we don’t actually know.

How many of us start our workday by checking our favorite news or pop culture sites like Newsarama or skimming our RSS feeds in our favorite browsers? Or find ourselves checking up on our Facebook friends’ statuses on our iPhones while standing in line for a cup of coffee? Or checking-in at an exciting new restaurant and tweeting what we’re having for dinner? Okay, maybe that last one is just me.

I admit I’m an information junkie. Part of it is job-related; I need to keep up with the latest in comic news and industry happenings. Another aspect is just part of my ever growing need for feeling connected and informed. I check Twitter after my morning run and sometimes beforehand. I run through a dozen or so RSS feeds with my cup of coffee. I update my status while watching TV in the evening. Yep, I have a problem.
